This year, LIVE Design Group proudly commemorates Craig Krawczyk’s 25th anniversary with the firm. As a leader, visionary, and advocate for creating spaces that serve communities, Craig has been instrumental in shaping the legacy and culture of LIVE Design Group. His passion for mission-driven design shines through every project he undertakes, from worship facilities to community spaces that bring people together.
A Quarter-Century of Leadership and Vision
Craig’s journey with LIVE Design Group began with a powerful vision: to marry architectural excellence with purpose-driven design. Over the years, he has embraced the mission of creating spaces that transcend functionality, serving as “third places”—environments that foster connection and community beyond home and work.
Reflecting on 25 Years: Projects That Defined a Legacy
As Craig looks back on his remarkable 25-year journey, several projects stand out as momentous milestones in his career:
- Church of the King, Mandeville, LA: This project holds a special place in Craig’s heart as it was the catalyst for creating the firm’s signature LIVE Design Process. It transformed how the team collaborates with clients, fostering real-time innovation and alignment.
- Celebration Church, Jacksonville, FL: Known for its unique worship style and distinctive plan, this project was a rewarding challenge that showcased Craig’s ability to design for dynamic, community-focused ministries.
- Auburn Community Church, Auburn, AL :“I have spent my career looking for ways to give back and share what I do with the Auburn community. I always thought it would be designing something on Auburn’s campus but never dreamed the opportunity would come in the form of ACC.”
- Red Mountain Theatre & Alabama School of Fine Arts (ASFA): These were Craig’s first full theater projects, igniting a passion for designing performance spaces that inspire creativity and connection.
- The Bell Center, Birmingham, AL: A deeply personal project for Craig, this facility was particularly meaningful as his daughter Emily was a graduate of the Bell Center’s program. Designing a space to support children and families in such impactful ways was both humbling and rewarding.
- Salvation Army Lewis School, Birmingham, AL: Craig recalls this project fondly, sharing, “I love their mission and was surprised to learn they are so much more than emergency housing.” This project exemplified the power of design to support diverse and life-changing community services.
These projects represent more than architectural achievements—they embody Craig’s commitment to creating spaces that inspire, connect, and serve people at every stage of life.
“I love working with churches, designing the experience of worship.”
His dedication to creating spaces that inspire faith and fellowship highlights his deep understanding of the emotional and spiritual journeys these environments support.
Building First Experiences and Lasting Memories
For Craig, architecture is about more than constructing buildings—it’s about shaping moments and experiences. He highlights the importance of “first experiences,” creating spaces that forge meaningful connections and lasting memories.
As Craig explains, “I am amazed we get to do this, use our design gifts to create spaces for people to live their story and have so many first experiences.”
This philosophy underpins LIVE Design Group’s approach, ensuring every project resonates deeply with its users and enhances the lives of those who engage with the space.
Looking Ahead: Expanding the Mission
As Craig continues to guide the firm, his vision for the future is focused on expanding into new sectors, including spaces for adults with disabilities, private schools, and social service organizations. His commitment to designing inclusive, impactful environments reflects LIVE Design Group’s mission of serving people who serve others. This approach emphasizes collaboration and empowers clients to deliver spaces that truly reflect their purpose.
