The Patron Experience

From the moment patrons approach the Red Mountain Theatre, they’re immersed in an experience designed to connect them with the creativity of the space.

The Patron Experience | Red Mountain Theatre

At LIVE Design Group, we understand a building's story begins long before anyone steps through its doors. When designing Red Mountain Theatre’s Arts & Education Campus, our focus was on crafting an immersive experience that starts from blocks away. The design isn’t just a backdrop for performances; it’s a series of connected moments that celebrate the vibrancy and creativity of the arts.

Using our Experience Mapping process, we carefully planned the entire journey—from arrival to departure—ensuring every touchpoint is intuitive, welcoming, and engaging. As patrons approach, strategically placed signage, lighting, and landscaping guide them, making first-time visitors feel at ease. Inside, thoughtful design elements, including dynamic graphics, cutting-edge AV technology, and flexible furniture arrangements, encourage guests to explore, linger, and connect. Whether arriving early for a pre-show gathering or staying late for post-performance conversations, each space fosters interaction and engagement.

By embedding these experiences into the design from the earliest stages, we ensure a seamless, cost-effective integration of these special moments. Our collaborative LIVE Design process helps clients brainstorm, visualize, and create memorable patron experiences that leave lasting impressions—building spaces that truly connect with every visitor.

At LIVE Design Group, our Experience Mapping process ensures every detail, from signage to interior design, creates a welcoming and engaging environment.

Programming and Experience Mapping: Enhancing Every Interaction

At LIVE Design Group, we prioritize Programming and Experience Mapping as integral tools in our design process. Programming traditionally involves determining what rooms and spaces are needed in a facility and how they relate to one another, but at LIVE, we take it further by considering how individuals will engage with those spaces. We ask questions like, “How will a patron feel the first time they step into this space?” and “What is the emotional arc of their experience throughout their journey here?” These considerations help create more than just functional buildings—they create environments that connect people and serve their community in a meaningful way.

Experience Mapping specifically focuses on how users interact with the space over time, identifying key touchpoints that can enhance their journey. Whether it’s the way a visitor is greeted upon arrival, the flow of movement between spaces, or the sense of community fostered in gathering areas, every detail is carefully crafted to create an experience that resonates long after patrons leave.

In projects like Red Mountain Theatre,, we’ve used these techniques to create facilities that reflect the unique mission and values of each organization. By considering both current and future needs, we design spaces that can grow and adapt over time, always focusing on enhancing the user experience and supporting the organization’s long-term success.
